Further is an autonomous travel ecosystem looking to disrupt the travel industry with the blockchain. They are developing a real-time payment and settlement platform that is currently lacking in the archaic legacy systems, one that overhauls the way travel service providers -- from airlines, to travel agencies, to tourism plays -- do business with one another and with travelers. It’s an autonomous smart travel network, one that is fueled by a Smart Travel Record (STR) and the Aton token.
Further is building its technology on the Stellar payment blockchain, which is a smart contract-fueled platform. This gives service providers, such as an airlines, hotels, tourism companies, etc., the ability to create customized assets and write their own rules or service terms for those assets, all of which is published on smart contracts that fuel real-time payments via the public ledger and digital currencies. Further will begin by tokenizing the provider’s native assets and expand into identity sharing until all travel-related systems are integrated onto the blockchain.
Further plans to launch tools surrounding the control of STR and Aton token, all of which will be managed on Further’s blockchain. Chief among these tools is an API that should be integrated into the partner service provider’s systems that will monitor everything from token balances to travel details. Further will also introduce a dashboard, mobile app, digital wallet and more all tied to the STR. When a ticket or reservation is created using one of these tools, the smart-contract fueled STR becomes activated.
Generally, the buyer, who can be an individual or agency, should have Aton funds in their wallet, as payment is completed instantaneously, which is a key benefit to the service provider that otherwise must wait weeks or months for settlement. For travelers, the idea is that they will use their Aton tokens for all travel-related transactions instead of having to convert and carry fiat currency on their trip.
The STR is a customized itinerary that is much more than just flight information. The STR is what Further describes as a “smart token” that in addition to flight or cruise data, for instance, includes preferences across entertainment, food and flight, lounge access, baggage claim, peer-to-peer ownership transfer, hotel reservations, rental car details and more, all of which is changeable.
Further likens its Aton token to Ethereum’s ether in that it’s the fuel that powers the network. Transactions that are completed on the network, from ticketing and reservations to billing and settlement to itinerary changes and even peer-to-peer sales, generate a fixed fee, which is paid to Further via its ATON token-powered wallet.
Further operates in both the business-to-business and business-to-consumer markets. The platform is designed for the entire travel ecosystem, from service provider to the end user, who is the traveler. In addition to the service providers mentioned, such as airlines, hotels, tourism, etc., other segments that are conducive to this platform including ground services, loyalty and reward programs, maintenance, travel insurance, identity verification and more.
